Richard Cortez
Richard is a Registered Addiction Specialist that is credentialed through the Breining Institute and is a graduate of Santa Monica College.
Richard is passionate about helping clients through the recovery process. With over 12 years sober himself he has great understanding and compassion for what the disease of addiction does to addicts and their families.
For most people their primary treatment is carefully planned and client’s are expertly guided through the process. Then after that initial first month or two client’s are expected in the transitional phase of recovery to somehow figure it all out on their own. The “structure” provided by so many facilities is a punitive model that treats all clients the same. Richard believes that your transitional phase of recovery needs to be as carefully planned and executed as your initial phase of recovery. Richard knows that the time clients spend at Oceanside is their real opportunity to build a foundation for success. He knows that you can’t do it all alone and that is why he is available to the client’s through every step of the process.
Having worked in the recovery field for many years Richard loves to be of service to others and feels privileged to be able to watch clients get their lives back and begin truly living and enjoying all life has to offer. Richard strives not only to help educate the clients in understanding the recovery process and themselves but also makes sure that weekends are a chance for clients to enjoy true sober fun. Richard’s calm reassuring manner helps to put our clients at ease and enables them to begin to build the foundation they will need in order to obtain long term recovery.
